✦ Bara Vara Creative ✦ is created by Australian-born artist and creative, Tanisha Stokes. Tanisha (she/her/fae) is a neurodiverse, multi-faceded artist who experiments with all mediums and crafts. Her works show her love of nature and adventure, biodiversity and all living creatures, while also reflecting on both her inner and outer world. Bara Vara Creative gives her a platform to share her work and creations with others.
The phrase bara vara comes from the Swedish language meaning just be. Tanisha spent many years living in Sweden and this phrase strongly aligned with her while she explored meditation and yoga. In 2019 while living in Sweden she tried bouldering for the first time and found when she was on the wall she was in a state of pure presence, finding the connection of body and mind that she had been seaching for. Tanisha now works at a boulding gym in Sydney where she is inspired everyday to share this experience to just be with others.

Bara Vara Creative acknowledges the Cammeraygal people who are the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which they live and create on. They pay respect to the elders past, present and emerging and extends that to other Aboriginal people visiting this site.
